About the event
With a lineup consisting of Spanish guitar, West African calabash, fretless bass, vocals and trumpet afro-flamenco outfit Muertito draw on the rich influence of MPB greats such as Jorge Ben and Baden Powell alongside the flamenco offerings of Paco de Lucia. Formed after a series of studio sessions and jams, Matías Reed (Vipertime, Mansion of Snakes, K.O.G & the Zongo Brigade) and Luke Reddin- Williams (Roller Trio, Vipertime, WorldService Project) soon invited Sam Dutton-Taylor (Cameron Vale, Aeroplanes at Brescia), Georgie Buchanan (Georgie & Phoebe) and Felix Burling (K.O.G.) to complete the line up. Muertito is passionate about experimentation and progressing beyond the boundaries of one single genre. Drawing on a large variety of influences including afrobeat, classical Indian, flamenco, MPB, salsa, Latin American guitar and British folk singing and storytelling we are able to engage and inspire multiple audiences. The quintet have filmed a number of live video sessions and are already gearing up to record their debut album this February, due to be released on independent record label Tight Lines.
